November 2014. Toxic gas detection in power station
The Litoral de Almeria power station is a coal fired power station owned by ENDESA. It was built around 1985 near the town of Carboneras, in the province of Almeria, next to what is now the Cabo de Gata-Níjar Natural Park.
The power station, also known as Carboneras power station, is composed of two separate groups, the first was commissioned in 1985 and the second in 1997, and develops 1158,p MW of power. After the commissioning of the new gas desulfurization plant in early 2010, the emission of contaminating gases has been significantly reduced. The power station currently holds the environmental management ISO 14001 certificate from AENOR.
These installations are protected by the DURGAS gas detection and measuring system, equipped with DURTOX X detectors, prepared to work in environments with a presence of explosive gas and dust atmospheres. This system is designed and manufactured by DURAN ELECTRONICA.
