May 2011. Explosive gas detection.
In Madrid, buses from the Municipal Bus Company using compressed natural gas will now be able to refuel in the Entrevías Operations Center. The City Council will carry out a series of improvements in this center that will allow the resupplying of up to one hundred buses with this kind of fuel. The estimated cost for these works will be of 3,474,698.51 euros.
Work will consist of the assembly and installation of natural gas compression stations capable of receiving gas from the grid and compress it so as to allow buses to refuel in less than 4 minutes. This installation will include the compressors, a measuring and regulating station, storage bottles, transformers and an emergency power generator. Three new natural gas pumps will be added to the existing refueling area in this Operations Center.
Also, workshop areas will be adapted to work with natural gas buses, as right now there are no specific areas for repairing these types of buses in the Entrevías Center.
The new natural gas refueling facility is protected by the EUROSONDELCO explosive gas detection and measuring system – designed and manufactured by DURAN ELECTRONICA – and by DURTEX-X HC PRO (NATURAL GAS/METHANE) exproof explosive gas detectors.
