January 2012. CO, NO2 detection and air quality control in tunnel.
The new Cornes – O Hórreo tunnel is situated in the outskirts of Santiago de Compostela (SC-20) near the Cornes railway station. It will allow for the elimination of the congestion point at the city’s main traffic area, with 50,000 daily vehicles, near the station which will soon be home to the high speed train line.
The work carried out has consisted in the construction if a 515 meter long tunnel, composed of two independent tubes with double lanes in each direction. The beginning of the route is situated on the eastern side of the Cornes viaduct and ends at Lugo Avenue, between Hórreo Street and the Sar link. Construction of this infrastructure for Santiago de Compostela has cost 25.6 million Euros.
For CO and NO2 detection, equipment manufactured by DURAN ELECTRONICA has been installed in the tunnel, while distributed products such as opacimeters and anemometers have been used for air quality control.
