February 2011. Toxic gas detection in the Pacific Coast.
In Mejillones, 65 km from the city of Antofagasta in Northern Chile, a new sulphuric acid plant has entered service, designed to produce more than 600,000 tons of sulphuric acid, as well as approximately 24MW of electricity.
Although the main use for sulphuric acid is mainly in the fertilizer industry, in this case it will be used by the local metallurgical industry. Its consumption in copper mining has increased in the last few years because of it being used in a number of processes in the production of this mineral.
The new sulphuric acid production plant is protected by the EUROSONDELCO toxic and explosive gas detection and measuring system and SO2 detectors, all designed and manufactured by DURAN ELECTRONICA.
