NEW RADON DETECTOR FOR INDUSTRIAL INSTALLATIONS AND SINGLE-FAMILY HOUSES

New Radon detector
April 2023.

Radon is an odorless, colorless, gas that is naturally-generated, principally through radioactive decay of the uranium present in soils and rocks, although occasionally it can also be present in construction materials (concrete, brick and natural stone) and in water from wells, emitting Alpha particles and decaying into Polonium and Lead.

The main pathways of entry of this gas into buildings is through cracks, joins, drains, downspouts, cavities around pipes, cables, or simply through the porosity of various materials used in the construction.
The highest concentrations are detected in basements, cellars, and especially the deeper an enclosure is with respect to ground level.

DURAN ELECTRÓNICA has developed RADET-86 which, using a pulse ionization chamber and a microprocessor with highly complex algorithms, is designed to detect Alfa particles generated by radon gas and to show the concentrations present in the atmosphere. It also comes with a memory that continuously stores the concentrations obtained by date and time for up to one year, for subsequent dumping and study.

RADET-86, incorporates a Wifi connection, 2.4Mhz- Bluetooth, which allows for programming, viewing of graphs and obtaining measurement data.

EARLY DETECTION OF HYDROGEN LEAKS FROM LITHIUM-ION BATTERIES

Early detection of hydrogen leaks from lithium-ion batteries
February 2023.

The use of lithium-ion batteries is now globally widespread. Fields of application include: Electric vehicles, forklifts, buses, solar panel energy storage, and consumer electronics.

Their technology can make them hazardous products, especially during the charging process, or when exposed to temperatures exceeding 60ºC, and they can even produce spontaneous combustions releasing more than 100 toxic and/or explosive gases, such as H2, CO, CO2, O2, CH4, C2H4, C2H6, C3H8, among others.

Added to this problem is the difficulty of extinguishing this type of fire when it occurs. Therefore it is essential to detect some of the gases generated in the initial moments of these reactions early, principally H2, CO and CO2.

To try to minimise these risks, DURÁN ELECTRÓNICA has developed equipment for the prompt detection of hydrogen, forming part of the DURTOX & STANDGAS family of products. They incorporate an electrochemical cell capable of measuring very small quantities of this gas (from 0 ppm and up to 500ppm). This technology allows us to surpass the speed and precision of others, which detect using pellistors or catalytic pearls, which start to measure as of 200ppm-400ppm and at the same time are more dependent on ambient moisture and temperature, thus allowing the corrective measures required to be advanced and thereby avoid more dangerous situations.

URBAN MINING, SEGOVIA

Urban Mining, Segovia
December 2021. Detection of ethanol and CO.

The idea of urban mining was born in the 80s in Japan. It consists of the recycling of electronic and electrical equipment driven by the increase in new technologies. He focuses his attention on the components inside as they are increasingly difficult to find materials. Our devices today such as household appliances, mobile phones, laptops, etc. They can contain up to 60 elements of the periodic table, elements of great value such as copper, iron, nickel, lithium, cobalt and even gold and silver. With recycling, new devices can be generated.

The Urban Mining company in Segovia takes into account the importance of the recycling process and the selective collection of these materials, always in accordance with the provisions of European legislation. It also has the recycling of airbag safety systems and a reception center for electric vehicle accumulators and batteries.

To guarantee safety in all processes, since many are highly polluting, the Minera Urbana company has relied on DURTEX HC PRO ethanol and DURTOX CO detectors for its lithium battery recycling container. These detectors have been designed and manufactured by Durán Electrónica, S.L.

CHEMICAL PLANT, RÍO TINTO, HUELVA

Chemical Plant, Río Tinto, Huelva
August 2019. Toxic and explosive gases detection.

The region of Rio Tinto in southern Spain has an acid and harsh environment similar to Mars environment, which fascinates scientists, both geochemically and mineralogically. It is because the type of minerals we find here also exist there.

The Tinto river is a coastal river that runs along the province of Huelva, in Andalusia. Since ancient times, along the river, copper, silver, gold and other minerals have been extracted. It is notable for being very acidic (pH 2) and its deep reddish hue is due to the dissolution of iron in water. Acid mine drainage causes serious environmental problems due to high concentrations of metals in the river.

For one of the new chemical plants in Rio Tinto, DURTOX-X 4-20mA detectors, with exproof and plastic enclosure for the detection of SO2 and CL2 has been installed. DURTEX HC PRO 4-20mA detectors for H2 detection have also been installed. Both designed and manufactured by Durán Electrónica.

NEW DURPARK SYSTEM

central durpark
July 2014

A result of our long experience, DURAN ELECTRONICA has just released its new DURPARK system for CO and NO2 detection, specially designed to protect underground car parks, repair shops and garages. In this system, addressable and using three wires, each detector is individually monitored, showing its status in real time on the display. It can detect CO and NO2 in the same loop, with the possibility of customizing the maneuvers, and uses electrochemical sensors of great resolution, great performance and a useful life of more than 5 years. It is available in two versions: MINI, non-expandable and with a capacity of 16 detectors, and an expandable version, from one to four module lines and a capacity of 64 detectors.

Maintenance procedures have been simplified, as it offers automatic gain and zero calibration using software algorithms, and the sensibility of the sensor can even be verified without the need to apply gas. The system incorporates a special function that allows leaving detectors in test mode so that they will not transmit in case of failure or lack of maintenance, and also includes special menus that make it possible to test the hardware and the installation in a very simple manner. It includes Spanish and Portuguese standards in three languages and each module line includes an LCD display, the module lines working independently from one another. It includes three tension free switched outputs, and therefore three independent programmable actuation levels per module line, plus a general fault output. It can be configured for double speed ventilation. The system conforms to Regulation UNE2300:1984 with certificate LOM 14MOGA3084 and is officially approved by the Spanish Ministry of Industry with registration CDM-0080010 and CDM-0090010.

Thanks to its rigorous design, great functionality and excellent reliability, DURPARK widely surpasses any other system in the market.DURPARK has been subjected to very thorough tests during its development, and now its manufacturing process, using SMD technology, is equally strict, with 100% of the detectors being calibrated with pattern gas, as DURÁN ELECTRÓNICA has always done with all its production.
